So for reasons that I don't exactly like, I am running cross country again this fall (http://www.caller.com/news/2011/aug/21/gregory-portland-grad-on-the-run/).
One big reason being that I haven't run more than 60 miles combined since December 5th, 2010 when I did a marathon.
But! I am going to make the most of it and turn it into a good thing both for my fitness, the team, and my personal walk with God.
Fortunately my coach understands that running is nowhere close to a priority this semester as I tackle the behemoths of Dynamics and Electronics along with a few other courses as well as my duties as the head engineering peer advisor for LeTourneau University.
With all that said I'm sure you are still wondering how I will benefit from still running. Well, I decided to tie in my devotion with my plan to wake up at 7:30 to run every morning. This way I get both of them at the same time. I will be honest and say that my private prayer time has been even less prolific than my private running time over the past few years which is why I am combining the two now.
So today I wake up for the first outing of this and I open my Bible, (scroll my iTouch app), to Luke 12:1-4, (http://bible.org/netbible/index.htm), which says that everything that is hidden will become known and what we keep in secret will be shouted from the rooftops.
Not gonna lie, that is a huge challenge to change a lot of things about my life.
So during my struggling, wheezing, slow 20 minute run this morning I contemplated those verses. That was almost tougher than the running.
So I challenge you to join me in doing something hard this semester and making a habit out of something you need.
